Christmas Island Style started out in 1987 when Dawn Norgren, owner of Island Title and a Chamber member, came up with the idea of a couple of events to help the island celebrate Christmas.
Under the Marco Island Chamber of Commerce’s watchful eye, the events grew until about 1999 when Dave Rice, who had chaired the events and with the help of the Chamber, took it private.
In 2004, after successfully guiding Christmas Island Style events, Dave Rice turned over the reins to Steve “Stef” Stefanides. Stef, along with the other Christmas Island Style committee members, has provided Marco Island with 17 years of highly successful,Christmas spirited, events for all who participate at no charge.
In 2021, Stef stepped down as chairman and Wanda Burson was chosen chairman to follow in Stef’s legacy. Wanda said she is determined to keep the high standards for all current events while always encouraging committee members to offer ideas of Christmas fun things for children.
In 2026, Wanda stepped down as chairperson, and Barb Dasti took the reins, ready to keep the Christmas spirit alive on Marco Island.
Christmas Island Style is a 100% volunteer organization that represents the very best of Marco Island by funneling resources and talents to ensure the various events bring the most joy to attendees. All funds necessary to provide the events are raised via fundraisers, sponsors, and donations.
